Financial Assistance For Retina Treatment
Medications for intravitreal injections can involve significant out-of-pocket costs depending on your insurance. Several assistance programs exist to help reduce this burden. Which program applies to you depends on the type of insurance you have.
For Medicare & Medicare Advantage Patients
If you have Medicare Part B or a Medicare Advantage plan without supplemental coverage
Understanding your coverage: Medicare Part B and most Medicare Advantage plans generally cover 80% of the allowed amount for medically necessary retina injections and related services. Unless you have a Medigap (supplemental) policy, you are typically responsible for the remaining 20% coinsurance — which can add up significantly over a course of ongoing injection therapy.

Good Days (formerly the Patient Access Network Foundation) is a nonprofit organization that provides yearly financial grants to help eligible patients cover the portion of treatment costs not paid by insurance — including the 20% coinsurance many Medicare and Medicare Advantage patients are responsible for. Grants are disease-specific and based on financial need, and funding availability can vary throughout the year. Our office can help you determine whether a Good Days fund is currently open for your diagnosis and assist with the application process.

For Commercially Insured Patients
If you have private/commercial insurance through an employer or the marketplace
If you have commercial insurance, you may be eligible for a manufacturer copay assistance program. These programs are offered directly by pharmaceutical manufacturers to help reduce or eliminate your out-of-pocket copay for specific retina medications.
Copay assistance program for eligible commercially insured patients prescribed Genentech retina medications.
Regeneron's copay support program for eligible commercially insured patients prescribed Eylea or Eylea HD.
Copay assistance program for eligible commercially insured patients prescribed Izervay for geographic atrophy.
Copay support program for eligible commercially insured patients prescribed Syfovre for geographic atrophy.
Manufacturer copay assistance programs are only available to patients with commercial (private) insurance. Federal law prohibits the use of these programs by patients enrolled in Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Tricare, VA benefits, or other government-sponsored health plans.
